For our family vacation this year, we met up with most of wife's family in Mackay, Idaho. Mackay is where some of the men from wife's family (and Ashley) camped out to watch the full solar eclipse last year. They thought it would be a fun place for an extended family vacation. It was pretty windy as we were driving there, and that cut down on our gas mileage. So we ended up stopping in Pocatello to get gas instead of Blackfoot as we'd planned. Since we hadn't planned the route, we ended up getting a little lost in Pocatello. We eventually got gas and made our way back to the freeway. It was definitely a longer drive than we were planning, but we eventually made it to the reservoir. The campground doesn't take reservations ahead of time, but we were assured we'd be able to get spots. Nope. But we ended up right next to the reservoir on BLM land, and I think that was a bit better. We we right next to the water with our own private little beach, and there was room for all of us. We didn't have to worry about being too loud because we had no neighbors, and we didn't have to worry about neighbors being too loud. Basically the first night was just eating dinner and getting everything set up and going to bed. I did manage to get a pic of little sister holding a baby cousin and a panoramic of our campsite. It was really a beautiful spot!
