Capitol Reef Day 2

With the help of lots of extra blankets and the tent heater, everyone stayed nice and warm during the night in the tent.  It was pretty cold in the morning, but breakfast and hot cocoa warmed everyone up before we ventured out on some hiking in the park.

Just a pretty view as we drove in to do some camping
Our first hike was to Capitol Gorge.  It was beautiful and not too difficult for the kids.

The kids loved finding hidey holes to climb into

These are some original "tanks" where the native americans who lived here got water.  The kids had fun climbing in.

After hiking all morning, we had a late lunch.  It was still pretty cold, thanks to a breeze that kept kicking up.  The kids weren't dying to get right back to hiking, so we took some naps and then headed out later in the afternoon to a few really short hikes to some overlooks.

Lots of hiking on day 2, and the kids did pretty well with it all.  We enjoyed a yummy dinner and then we settled into the tent to stay warm and watch a movie before calling it a night.
