Quirky Tag!

We were tagged a while ago by on of Husband's mission companions. As mentioned before, Wife's doing good to get out of bed most days, so it's taken awhile to get around to putting this post together. The rules are to come up with six quirks about each of you, then tag 6 other people/couples. It took awhile to come up with quirks that we are willing to share with a public audience! Here goes
HUSBAND
1. SHOES. Husband always wears shoes. He really prefers to have shoes or slippers on his feet. I have rarely seen him barefoot around the house. If he takes his shoes off when he gets home, it's usually to put slippers on. He does not own any flip flops. He owns a pair of sandals which he rarely wears. He paid Lagoon prices for some water shoes at Lagoon A Beach a couple years ago because his feet were not calloused enough to handle the hot pavement.
2. STRAIGHT A'S. Husband got straight A's in school. ALL through school. 2 minor exceptions. He got an A- in a summer class taken the semester we got married. He was only half joking when he said if he'd taken it again and concentrated more (apparently he was distracted...) he could get a real A. I told him he wasn't taking it again. His first semester of physics wasn't great, but the second semester he stopped listening to the professor and going to class and sort of taught himself with a CD rom. He got an A the second semester. Go figure. In Pharmacy School, he'd get stressed sometimes and say he was going to stop trying to get A's. I always laughed. He was always on the Dean's list. Now when Sister calls and complains about her latest A only being a 98%, I hand the phone to Husband because he's the only one who really understands a complaint about a 98%.
3. HAIR. Husband's hair is always combed. He combs it neatly before going to bed. A couple years ago, I had gone out of town with the girls and Husband was home alone. He wasn't feeling well, so decided to sleep through his Sunday meetings. The Bishop was very worried. Husband is Mr. Reliable and NEVER missed a meeting. He sent our good friend Tom over to check on Husband. Tom almost broke the door down trying to make sure Husband was ok. Husband finally answered the door. When I came back home, most of our neighbors were telling me about how worried everyone was. Tom remarked to me that when Husband had finally answered the door, he was in his pajamas and his HAIR WAS NEATLY COMBED. He thought it was funny that Husband had combed his hair before seeing who was breaking down the door!
4. WEIGHT Husband's weight has only fluctuated about 5 pounds our entire marriage. He weighed less in school because he was stressed and he does not eat as much when he's stressed. Despite the fact that Husband doesn't work out except for some push ups and stretches in the mornings, he doesn't gain weight. Our brother in law asked Husband once what his secret was. Husband told him it was eating ice cream at 10:30 at night. By the end of each of my pregnancies, I have easily outweighed him. Doesn't do much for my ego!
5. DECISIONS It takes Husband a long time to make a decision about almost anything, big or small. He spends hours online researching and making sure that he's getting the best deal. When we've finally made a purchase, he keeps looking and usually finds that we spent a tiny bit more than we needed to. It takes him twice as long to grocery shop because he wants to ensure he's getting the best deal. I usually make a very fast decision, than have to wait patiently and quietly while he reaches his own decision. We usually come to the same conclusion, it just takes him a little longer to settle his mind to it!
6. NEAT & TIDY For those of you who lived with Husband on his mission or have stayed with us in our home, you know that he likes things clean. He puts his watch and wallet neatly in the same place in the same position every night. His pants are hung a certain way. It really bugs him when things are out of place. When we have moved, Husband prefers for me to let him unpack so that he can think through where things should go. Since I generally have no firm opinion, that is fine with me!

WIFE
1. SHOES Unlike Husband, Wife hates to wear shoes. We do not have a no shoes allowed rule in our home, in fact we both find that annoying. But most people think we have that rule if Wife answers the door because she never wears shoes unless she has to. And even then, sometimes not. When Wife moved home from NV after graduation, she went to church barefoot a lot because shoes bugged her so much. She has since repented, but still gets remarks when she sees former ward members about how she was always barefoot! Oh, and she leaves her shoes all over the house, which drives Husband CRAZY!
2. HAIR Wife has extreme opinions when it comes to her hair length. She likes it really long or really short. The problem is that if your hair is short and you want it long, you have to deal with the in between stage for a long time! Last year, she cut it very short, with inch long spikes in the back. She LOVED it, but missed her long hair. She's been growing it out since February and has hated every minute. For a person who hates the in between phase, she has spent an awful lot of time (the better part of her 20's!) growing her her back out from short!
3. OPEN DOORS Wife hates doors being open at night. Closet doors, bathroom doors, doesn't matter. She makes sure the kids doors are all closed as well as our own. She really has a hard time sleeping with the door open, unless Husband is staying up late in the other room.
4. ALL OR NOTHING Wife hates being interrupted in the middle of playing a song on the piano. Her big pet peeve as a child was being called to dinner or the phone or anything else if she was not finished with a song. This transferred to the organ when she was called to play the organ. It bugged her when she wass not allowed to play all 7 verses of How Firm A Foundation. Or when she would pause at the end of a song during the prelude music to see if the bishopric member was going to start Sacrament Meeting, start another song when nobody got up only to have the member of the bishopric get up during the second line. Annoying, but especially the time it was a song she didn't know well enough to transition smoothly to the end. So everyone's whispering loudly, "______, they're ready to start!" Clearly, Wife could see that. But she wasn't that good at the organ, so the poor guy just had to stand there until she made it to a spot where she could play the final chord. Yeah, her face was red. Seriously, don't interrupt her, just let her finish!
5. LIGHTS LEFT ON. It drives Wife crazy when every light in the house is on. She is constantly turning the lights off after the kids. When B comes home and it's dark, she runs through the house turning everything on and Wife follows her turning almost everything off. The exception to this is when Husband leaves town for a day or two. Then Wife leaves a couple lights on all night because - let's face it - it's scarier at night when he's not here!
6. GUMMY FROGS AND GUMMY BEARS Wife is obsessed with Haribo Gummy frogs. She likes the gummy bears, but once bought a 5 pound bag of Gummy Frogs. It was supposed to be part of food storage, candy to keep kids happy during hard times or something. It didn't last very long. They have to be Haribo, any other brand is gross. She finds something oddly satisfying about sucking off the white foamy party and then chewing the gummy part. Her problem is that no grocery store that we know of anywhere sells the things, which is why she usually settles for gummy bears. She has discovered that some local gas stations do carry them. Before a road trip, she makes a special trip to the Tesoro. Not for gas, but for Gummy Frogs.

So now you know a little more than you wanted to about US! We tag: Anyone who can admit to their quirks!

Wow - that was a great list! I guess that's why Aaron and I got along so well on our missions - because we are both neat freaks! Congratulations on the pregnancy! We hope you are feeling better soon. Sorry we weren't able to see you when we were in Utah last month. It's hard just to fit in time for both of our families. We'll have to plan to get together the next time we are home. Have a great day!

I know just what you mean about the organ thing. Is it so hard for the Bishopric to go up to the pulpit when you are just finishing a song instead of just starting. Although I think what you do is probably better than what I do- if I don't know how to transition to the end I just stop abruptly- right where I'm at when they come up. Glad I'm not the organist anymore.
