We managed to squeeze in lots of fun stuff in December. Little brother's class put in a short, 10 minute program. They were supposed to wear very simple costumes, and so our boy chose the Grinch. Found him a Grinch shirt, voila. He looks pretty cute next to Cindy Lou...
There was a backdrop set up so you could take pictures of your kids. Little brother didn't want to stand in the middle, funny boy.
Our sweet new nephew made his grand entrance! Not too early, but early enough to not put his mama in the hospital in labor on his due date, which was Christmas Eve. So considerate! The kids loved meeting him!
Big brother was beside himself, he was so excited to hold the baby!
Back before Thanksgiving, one of the local malls had put in a "Harry Potter Experience." The girls are die hard fans (who isn't, though?) and wanted to go. We met up with my sister and her kids a couple days before Thanksgiving. There was a 2 hour wait. We skipped it and let the kids play in the play area, got lunch, and went home. So we decided to try again in December when our kids were off, but most other schools were still in session. Perfect, we walked right in! They had a fantastic time, and I was glad we didn't do the 2 hour wait, it was SO not worth a wait. We spent about 20 minutes, and everybody chose a small trinket or treat to buy.
Our kids are awesome readers. The state has a reading program online to track their reading and the kids school uses it. They all read so much that they earned free bowling passes to Fat Cats. It's not anywhere near us, so we decided to do this before heading to temple square. Big brother is in his element at the bowling alley. I don't know what it is, but ohmygoodness the boy LOVES bowling! He would go every day if we'd let him! He was beyond thrilled to go bowling. We had a wonderful family time. It started snowing for real while we were inside. Real fluffy flakes and lots of them! Yay, we love snow!
After bowling we just took 9th east the rest of the way downtown. Really a pretty drive, all those fabulous old homes with their Christmas lights on! We got to do temple square in the snow, which was perfect. Everything was SO pretty and magical with the addition of the snow on the ground and in the air! When we were all frozen, we got back in the car and headed to Chuck-A-Rama for our traditional after-temple-square meal. Big brother, once again, was in his element. Man, this boy loves to eat! It was a really fun day for our family and we soaked up every minute.
A couple days before Christmas we got together with wife's family for a lunch of appetizers. The cousins were having fun playing and I decided we should get to the sugar cookies so we'd have some to leave out for Santa. All the kids loved getting in on the action
