We've been noticing lately that B is feeling a little neglected and/or left out. Mommy's not up to her usual activity level, thanks to baby #3. So while there's not a whole lot we can change day to day, we thought it would be nice to take B on a date with Mommy & Daddy. Thanks to Grandma for taking M for the evening. We went to a late afternoon showing of Madagascar 2, which B liked very much. She may have liked having her own large drink and popcorn more than the movie! Mommy remembered the last time we took B to a movie theatre. She spent the whole movie with B on her lap, covering her ears because it was too loud! So we bought her some kid sized ear plugs. At first they bugged her and she didn't want to wear them. But then the previews started, along with the THX sound system stuff where they show off just how loud their speakers are. It makes Mommy & Daddy's ears hurt, not to mention B's! Suddenly she wanted the ear plugs. She took them off again towards the end of the movie, since the movie was actually much quieter than the previews. She says she did not like the mean lion. She seems to have a true dislike for people who are just mean. Interesting. We then went to her favorite restaurant - Olive Garden! Which was perfectly fine with Mommy & Daddy! I'd rather have salad and breadsticks than fast food burgers any day! She had a blast being the center of attention, and loved the waiter for the extra chocolate mints he gave her. M hardly noticed we were gone, she had so much fun with Grandma! She gave each of us a hug and went right back to her toys. It's nice to feel needed...Or something! We may have to make these little dates our new tradition every once in awhile. It was a lot of fun!

Nice. It's true they definitely respond to one on one time don't they. One on one plus daddy sounds even better. C and S remind me often if I have neglected their one on one time. It is a fun tradition. We even do some as simple as going to feed the ducks at the park. I still have fond memories of daddy/daughter dates we called P.P.I's.
What a good idea. We took X1 and X2 to Madagascar also and it was a struggle as X2 was not at all interested. It would have been nice if we got him a babysitter.
