We may even finish this thing someday...

We are slowly making more progress in the basement. The holidays made it hard to progress too much on Husband's days off, but we managed to get a few things accomplished with my dad's help! Here are some pictures of our progress.

The storage room is finished, except for one door that will get painted when we paint all the other doors that will need painting. *groan* I hate painting doors. But they do look so much prettier when they're painted! Husband and my dad painted the floor with some garage floor paint. It should make it easier to keep clean, and it looks so much nicer! They even had some leftover to make the furnace room look a little prettier. They put up some shelves, which should help make up for the fact that our garage doesn't help us store anything but our cars, and it barely does that! With the storage room finished, we were able to move all the extra junk occupying the 3rd bedroom and framing has commenced on it. Hooray!

It's not much to look at, but it's exciting to have the framing, duct work and electrical stuff done. Husband spent his last 2 days off doing that and insulating the furnace room completely so that the furnace doesn't wake the kids up when we move them downstairs. We used foam insulation so that we don't have fiberglass being sucked into our ventilation system. It's a nice idea, but a pain in the butt to work with! Husband had to cut every single piece exactly to size. He is glad to have that part done! Now, on to insulating the bedroom. We'll be using the fiberglass stuff, thank heavens!!

We had our cabinet custom made so we could get the knotty alder. Apparently it's a Utah thing and none of the national chains really carried it. It was worth it - it's so pretty! We're working on the countertop and sinks, and we are trying to decide what kind of mirror to get...

The door leading into the toilet/shower area. It'll be so nice that someone can shower with privacy while someone else can be using the sinks and mirror. I'm sure the girls will still find plenty to fight over in the bathroom as teenagers, though!

A close-up of my dad's handy dandy tile work in the bathtub/shower. The picture doesn't do it justice! It looks really striking! He's amazing!

That's all for now! We still need to sheetrock and paint the 3rd bedroom, paint all the trim and doors, and carpet. I'm sure there's a million other details I haven't thought about yet, either! We may finish someday...Hopefully before July!
