Girly Campers

Big sister and Mom got to go to Girls Camp together again, this year.  We headed up to Pineview Reservoir and it was perfect.  Lots of fun, and lots of time spent swimming in the lake.  A little too much fun the last day, since some of mom's beehives (big sister included) forgot about drinking water and sunscreen.  Heatstroke was a thing and mom's beehives started dropping like flies.  Clearly, I just trying to get myself fired!  We ended up with one almost going into shock, and 3 that were just sick.  They got to skip the testimony meeting and we pumped them full of water and let them sleep it off in the tent.  The bishop and another brother were able to give them blessings, though, and the spirit felt in that tent was amazing.  They were all much better in the morning, after multiple trips to the bathroom and lots of sleep.  Big sister slept most of the day after getting home and taking a shower.  Despite trying to kill off my beehives, they've left me in YW.  Which works, 'cuz I just love it there!

After getting back from camp Friday, we did lots of laundry and then spent Saturday getting everything packed so that big sister could spend the next week at Oakcrest girls camp with 2 other girls from our ward.  She got to do lots of camping this year!  She did not have a roommate and was very nervous about being on her own, but she managed to push herself out of her comfort zone a bit and had a wonderful time.
Notice that big sister has her big blue water bottle?  She didn't go anywhere without it for weeks after girls camp - she did not enjoy heat stroke and was now convinced that drinking lots of water was a really good idea.

While big sister was gone, we gave her room a makeover.  She'd picked out a new bedding set, and has hated the pink since 4 months after we finished the room.  So she also picked out a bluish/gray paint.  Mom spent the week sanding, patching, sanding, wiping, taping and, finally, painting.   Thursday night we put everything up on the walls and putting everything in it's place.  It turned out pretty great, I think!
 Last of the pink

My advisors and I picked up the girls from Oakcrest, as well as one other girl who was in the presidency with the other 3, and week took them to In-n-out.  It was fun to hear them all laugh and talk together about their Oakcrest experiences.  I'm pretty blessed to work with these amazing women and awesome young women.
Finished product - big sister loves it!
