Finishing out 2015

We had a great end to 2015.  I just love the holiday season!  We ended Thanksgiving weekend with Husband's grandmother's 90th birthday party.  It was nice to get together with that side of the family!  husband particularly enjoyed holding our newest niece:
I managed to remember to get a picture with Husband's grandmother.  Husband's dad was sitting next to her, but didn't want to move and didn't want to be in the picture.  That's why there's an extra arm behind big sister.
December definitely felt busier than usual, since all the kids were still in school.  Wife put together a Christmas party in little sister's class, and we still had all the homework and stuff to do.  We managed to finally make it downtown the week of Christmas for our annual trip to temple square to see the lights.
We got there a little early, hoping to be there before it got crowded.  We enjoyed the ZCMI candy displays - all Peanuts themed this year.  The kids loved it.  Just as we walked onto temple square, the lights came on.  Perfect timing.  The kids really wanted to take a picture on the steps of the temple.
At this point, they were cold and little brother was tired of walking.  We had to stop by the spot were Daddy proposed to mommy, and then we headed back to the car so we could go to Chuck-a-Rama.  The kids love eating there!  We stopped by our old apartment complex at the U for old times sake, and then headed home.  A beautiful night!
We still needed to make Christmas cookies, so we made sure that happened.
Wife's sister Summer was in town so we made extra efforts to do fun things in the week before Christmas.  We all went sledding at a park near our home.  The kids all had fun being with their cousins.  And here we have Grandpa and Grandma - always teaching us that you're never too old to have fun!

Afterward we all came back for hot chocolate and cookies.  A good time was had by all!

Christmas Eve was quiet and peaceful.  Husband worked until 4, and the kids did a good job of helping to get the house clean.  We had steak, mashed potatoes, salad, and big brother requested rainbow jello.  Yummy!  Then we did our present to Jesus.  It's always fun to read about what nice things everyone did for each other.  We watched a few short Christmas videos to help bring the true Spirit of Christmas in, and then the kids got to open their Christmas Eve PJ's.
They all went to bed happily and fell asleep relatively quickly.  Husband and I stayed up to watch "A Christmas Story."  We told the kids they couldn't come upstairs until 7:00am.  They obeyed, thank heavens.  Here we are with our stockings!

The boys are thrilled with their new light sabers.  They actually light up and make sounds.  Husband seems to be enjoying them, too...
Husband got to take our tv apart (again) and replace some bad capacitors (again).  The boys were fascinated by the inner workings of the TV.  I love that Husband can figure these things out and fix them.
No pics of New Year's Eve.  We had my family over and enjoyed the traditional chocolate fountain, as well as some other yummy goodies.  We played catch phrase and particularly enjoyed watching mom try to get us all to say "ballistic missile."  Big brother and little brother went to bed fairly early on in the evening, but surprisingly everyone else seemed to make it to midnight.  Hooray!  The n ext day we enjoyed breakfast with Cedie, Court & Allie before they had to head back to Logan.  We took down the Christmas stuff, which is always a bit melancholy to me.  Now it's back to normal.  It was a wonderful holiday season, full of that important spirit that should attend.  Here's to a New Year - may it be a GREAT one!
