Disneyland part 2

We purchased a 5 day pass without the park-hopper option.  We decided that it wasn't worth the $ to go back and forth since we had 5 days.  We also didn't want to feel rushed to do everything because we had plenty of time.  That worked out really well for us.  Monday morning the kiddos were up and ready to go pretty early.  We had our cereal and got ready for our first day at the park.  This year the girls picked out lunch bags instead of lunch boxes.  These things came in very handy!  Knowing that it would be hot, we packed water bottles and ice packs into the bags, along with a spray bottle.  The ice packs kept everything nice and cold, and the bags were easy for Big Sister to take through the bag checkpoints.  Sped up the process of having our bags checked.  We got to the park at opening time, and we headed right back to Fantasyland.  We rode the carousel first, which was one of little sister's favorites.  We also rode the Circus train - the kids liked the cage because it offered shade:
Dumbo was also a big hit.  It is so nice that there are so many rides for the whole family to go on.  Here's the girls:
And Daddy and little brother, who didn't want to take pictures, he just wanted to go on a ride!
We used the spray bottle to soak the kids several times during the morning.  It was HOT!  Little brother and little sister didn't like the process of getting wet, but they sure seemed happier after we sprayed them anyway.  Big sister and little brother loved getting wet.  It was still 98 degrees outside, and Utah's been cooler than normal.  So the heat made everyone's tempers a little shorter, and we were all really thirsty.  Husband and I commented that night that it took a LOT more effort to make sure we were having fun despite the heat.  I think we succeeded for the most part.

Here's little brother and little sister.  We did the teacups a lot.  There's usually not much of a line, probably because not everyone can stomach the spinning.  Husband is one of those.  He won't go on this one, but is happy to take photographs and video!
Daddy wanted to go on the Matterhorn.  Big sister did, too, but little brother is not tall enough and little sister flatly refuses to go on anything like that.  Big brother (with his lack of communication) didn't understand what kind of ride it was, so he went with them.  I took the two little's on the teacups again.  Daddy and big sister liked the matterhorn, big brother didn't.  He got slammed into his seat a bit, so his shoulder was hurting.  He definitely paid more attention to what kind of rides we were getting into before he agreed to go on any more.  The two middle kiddos also did not appreciate the sound systems in the rides.  Loud noises are no bueno!  I can't figure out why Fantasyland has such loud and creepy rides when they're supposed to be for the little kids.  I think they would've liked Peter Pan, but the line was never less than 40 minutes.  Probably 'cuz it's the only one that's not scary/creepy!  Anyway.  We headed back to the hotel around noon for lunch.  The kids were all super tired and very hot.  I can't say enough about the 5 minute walk back and forth from the park to the hotel.  It makes life so much easier!  We had our pb&j's and fruit, and then I kept the 3 younger ones back at the hotel for a nap while big sister and daddy headed back.  The nap was much needed!  They all slept for quite a while.  Big sister and Daddy went on Star Tours, Buzz Lightyear, Space Mountain, Indiana Jones and probably some others I can't remember just now.  Everyone was much happier after naps.  We went on the Jungle Cruise after the kids and I came back.  After that, we kind of just wondered around, doing whatever had a short-ish line.  The canal boat line was not bad, but it was completely empty after we finished our ride.  Funny how timing works sometimes.  The girls liked sitting on the very front of the boat.  Cuties.
For dinner we decided on the famous turkey legs.  We bought 2 for all of us to share and 6 ears of corn plus some lemonade.  We tried not to choke on the sticker shock - Eating in Disney is pricey, that never changes!  The turkey was delicious, and the kids all ate really well.  We just peeled off pieces for them.  We actually couldn't quite finish all of the turkey.  Everyone was stuffed full, which was the goal.  Here's husband with his turkey leg
After dinner we went and staked out a spot to watch the parade.  Not being crowd people, we have found that near the entrance is a great place.  Makes for a fast escape once the parade is over, and that's the last place to fill up with people.  You just have to wait for the parade to get all the way around to you.  They have added the Frozen characters to the parade, but more as a "pre-parade" thing.  Probably 'cuz they'd have to revamp the whole thing for one extra float.  Anyway.  I got video of big brother seeing their float and he was Beside. Himself.  He loves Frozen!  I frequently wake up in the morning to the sounds of that movie because he has figured out how to turn it on.  Funny boy.  When he saw Elsa and Anna, he just lit up like a Christmas tree!  They all loved the whole parade.  It was on the must-do list every day that we were there.  They love waving at the characters, singing and dancing along to the music.  A great way to end the day!  After the parade, we headed back to the hotel.  Big sister wanted to get a snack, so she and Husband stopped by Cold Stone Creamery while I took the younger kids back and got their pajamas on them.  Pricey ice cream, but still cheaper than anything we could get in Disneyland!  All in all, it was a very fun day.  Hot, but very fun!
