The girls had 5 days off of school for spring break over Easter weekend. It rarely happens, but daddy had the same days off! We discussed going out of town, but since we hate crowds and are kinda cheap, we ended up staying home. Which is a good thing, because we were all still sick with a nasty cold that stole our voices and stuffed our noses. (Sick of sickness.) We still managed to have a fantastic spring break just hanging out as a family. We cleaned the house (YAY!) and gardened, played outside, played board games, had movie nights, did Easter stuff, the girls had a date with Daddy, and mom & dad even managed to get in a date!
Hunting Easter eggs! (The ones with the candy in them.)
Easter Ham.
My boys. Typical - little brother grins and big brother kinda says "Huh?"
We put little brother down for a nap before we started dyeing the Easter eggs. Definitely a good idea!
In their Easter finery! I did not end up buying dresses for the girls this year. I didn't like ANYTHING that was out there enough to pay for it. Their old dresses still fit relatively well. They didn't seem to mind not getting new dresses, thankfully.
On Monday, we were all feeling pretty much over the cold, so we headed to the Church History Museum. They have a really neat children's section. The kids played with different puppet animals and the girls tried on some authentic Mexican skirts and learned to dance a little. Here are the girls on Nephi's boat:
At this station, you got to copy some of the ancient writings. Big brother was saying cheese at this moment, but not smiling...He's awfully handsome, though!
We couldn't get this little boy away from the writing station! He was smiling, too, but another kid distracted him at the last minute.
The kids had a blast and we were there for about 1 1/2 hours. That's a long time for the boys, especially! Afterward, we enjoyed lunch at Chuck-A-Rama. The kids loved that part, as usual. Especially getting their own ice cream. Little brother had had enough at that point, though. He ate some mac and cheese, then laid down on the bench kind of moaning. It was clear he was tired and ready for a nap. So we decided to head home. We were pointing out some of the familiar sights from that area since we used to live/work near and around downtown. The girls were fascinated, of course. We took the scenic route home since little brother had already fallen asleep in the car. We drove past the University of Utah, pointing out the stadium and the chapel where both the girls were blessed. We drove up to the old married student housing and showed them the building where we lived. They really wanted to play on the playground, but it was really windy and cold by that point, plus little brother was asleep and we really didn't want him to wake up. But big sister did remember playing with her bestest friend, and pointed out their old apartment. Love that she has some faint memories, at least! It was a nice day, and a nice stroll down memory lane!
