Last night was a big night for big sister. She went on a date. Well, a Daddy-daughter date. Uncle David got tickets for the nutcracker and since finding a babysitter on a weeknight is pretty much impossible, we decided that Daddy would take big sister. She was, of course, beyond excited to see a ballet. We made a big deal and spoiled her rotten for the occasion. We went in the morning and got her hair done. It took about an hour, but she was very good through the process and it turned out SO cute! The stylist was kind enough to spray it with ridiculous amounts of hairspray, so it stayed in during kindergarten. As soon as she got home from school, we put on her special dress and borrowed mommy's special necklace, snapped a few pictures, and off she and Daddy went. They ate at the Olive Garden downtown, since it is on the same block as the theater. That is her favorite restaurant. All the female employees kept going past to tell her how she was the prettiest little girl they'd ever seen! Then they walked over to the theater. She got a cushion to sit on so she could see past the "big tall girl" in front of her. Husband's sister brought her little girl, as well, so big sister was thrilled to see her cousin. They're about 18 months apart, and quite the twosome when they get together! Her favorite part was the rat king, and she said she was tired and a little hungry for the 2nd half, but she liked that part, too. She came home tired, but extremely happy. Here's some fun pictures!

These were taken before school. She wanted to make sure we took a picture of the back of her hair.

With Daddy, ready to go! I tried to take a picture in front of the Christmas tree, but gave up. Our house faces completely west, and in the afternoon any pictures against the windows on that side of the house don't turn out. Fortunately, my red wall makes a good background!
