'Till we meet again

Grandpa, Grandma, and my dad - Easter 1952

My dad in uniform with his dad

My grandfather passed away this morning. I don't really have any words, except Thank you, Grandpa. Thank you for all the times you teased your grandchildren. For waiting to say anything on Sunday visits until all of the grandkids were in the cars ready to go home, aka the Hawkins pause. Thank you for raising your children right, because they in turn have raised their children right. Thank you for fighting to defend this country. Thank you for showing us how much you loved grandma. God be with you, 'till we meet again.

I read this to your dad. It made him smile and cry!
