Gingerbread cookies! Big brother's favorite!
Pardon the orientation of the picture. It's right side up in my file, and no matter what I do to it, blogger insists on displaying it sideways. Little sister has been part of her elementary's school choir this year. This has required waking up early two days a week to go practice, and she's been pretty good about it. She really enjoys it, and the parent volunteers who run it are awesome. She had some performances at some nursing homes and the mall, and then they had their concert. It was super fun to watch her - she's a good little singer!
Christmas Eve came and brought with it the usual pajamas:
little brother got batman
big brother got lego darth vader
little sister got a super soft polka dot nightgown
big sister got to match little sister
All ready for bed!
We didn't take very many pictures Christmas morning. Husband was pretty thrilled with the snowblower he got. We got it all set up Christmas Eve since we knew we were getting snow that night, and we're so glad we did! What would've taken a couple hours took 20 - 30 minutes. We've debated for years about getting one, and always felt that we didn't really mind shoveling. I will say I'm SO glad we went for it this year - it has definitely gotten used! The kids were allowed to open stockings before church, and that seemed to take the edge of the anticipation. It's always nice to have church on Christmas, in my opinion. complicates things a bit, but it was so nice to take the sacrament and really focus on ourSavior on the day we celebrate his birth. Then home to open the rest of the gifts - the kids were all very happy with their haul this year. Then we went to wife's parents for some brunch and present opening, and back home to get ready for Husband's family to come for dinner. It was a wonderful day filled with family and love and good food, and the beautiful reminders of our Savior's love. Just perfect.
We didn't do a lot for New Year's since wife wasn't feeling well. Dad took the kids to IHOP, as per tradition. Then they came home and we watched Pete's Dragon. We were all in bed by 10, I think. Which suited us all just fine! January found us playing in the snow a lot. Daddy took the kids sledding a few times over their break, and little brother is constantly begging him to just come play in the backyard. He's really into starting snowmen...
February found us getting the ball rolling on our kitchen remodel. As I type, our cabinets are being installed! Before getting to this point, there was lots of painting and tearing out that had to be done. We've eaten out a bit, done crockpot stuff, but are mostly looking forward to a couple weeks from now when we can hopefully have countertops and have our kitchen back. We painted the laundry room before doing the floor and were without our washer and dryer. Poor timing. Big brother got the stomach bug that has gone around most of our family now. He never seems to make it to the toilet in time. After trying unsuccessfully to just clean sheets in the bathtub, we ended up pushing the machines back in and washing stuff, pushing them back out so husband could lay the flooring, and then pushing the machines in again. Such a pain. But my laundry room is so pretty! I'll post pictures next time.
